E.T. Browne Drug Co., manufacturer of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula and Coconut Oil Formula skin and hair care products, has started producing hand sanitizer at its East Stroudsburg-based manufacturing facility, Hayward Laboratories. Highland Associates designed a 7,500 sq. ft. new Hand Sanitizer and Tank Process Storage addition to the Hayward Laboratories facility and contains two tank farms for storage of alcohol products for Hayward’s use in a new line for producing hand sanitizer along with space for a future line and a pair of truck docks.
Highland designed the Process Piping to run from the various new tanks and run them to the point of connection to the process equipment per Hayward’s direction. Both tank farms required explosion relief in the form of blow off roof and wall panels along with containment blast resistant walls constructed off heavily reinforced masonry. The remainder of the structure consists of a structural steel frame supporting an insulated metal wall panel system, a slab on grade and an EPDM roof system supported on metal deck and structural steel framing. Highland also designed a foundation system for supporting exterior process tanks and a 30,000 gallon water tank that was located on the rear of the existing plant.
The focal point at Hayward Laboratories revolves around analytical laboratories, inventory management, warehousing, and the distribution of Palmer’s products and hand sanitizer through the processes of filling, packaging, and producing quality products.
