The 67,825 sq. ft Children’s Specialized Hospital Outpatient Facility, a RWJ Barnabas Health Facility, was an adaptive reuse of the vacant building referred to as the Money Store, located on Morris Ave in Union.
Highland’s comprehensive MEP infrastructure upgrades were designed enabling the hospital to relocate the outpatient services at their Mountainside and Warren locations. This state-of-the art facility will provide primary care for children with special health care needs and specialty physician services including neurodevelopmental, physiatry and psychiatry services as well as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychology.
The HVAC design included new centralized RTU’s, stand-alone controls, duct systems down through roof, VAV box distribution with hot water re-heat and central hot water boiler system. The Electrical system includes normal power, lighting, data/telecommunications, audio/visual and fire. Plumbing systems include the new natural gas service and routing of the gas line to the new RTU’s, boilers and domestic water heaters. The Plumbing services also included are water, sanitary waste, and sanitary vent for the fit-out. The drawings for the project were prepared for NJ DCA, local permitting and competitive bidding.
