Highland Associates, in collaboration with Bialecki Architects, was hired to design a new facility for research and development at a historic apple orchard in Walden, New York for Angry Orchard Cider Company. The cider makers at Angry Orchard Cider Company have been exploring different apple varieties and crafting ciders for twenty years. The company sought to expand upon that experimentation and drive innovation at their own 60-acre orchard, located in the heart of the Hudson Valley of New York State.
The new 2-story, timber-framed, 15,000 square foot agricultural and industrial cider production plant also houses a tour center. The plant features cider making equipment specifically designed for small batch experimentation. At the tour center, visitors can learn how cider is made and sample exclusive, handcrafted Angry Orchard small batch cider made on-site.
