Highland Associates was retained to provide design and engineering services for the preparation of Architectural, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural and Electrical Construction Documents for the SPM Renovation. The project involves the construction of a 5,000 square foot clean room within the existing warehouse of the SPM facility located in the B. Braun Manufacturing Facility, Allentown, PA.
The addition will be used to house existing and newly purchased manufacturing equipment. HVAC design is based on 20 air changes per hour to meet ISO Class 8 requirements. Our designers are working with the Owner and construction team on the validation and certification of the ISO 8 Clean room.
Material and personnel flow will be accommodated utilizing the existing adjacent production areas. An above ceiling grid structure will be provided to allow for the overhead feeds of services. The use of this system will allow for flex modifications as needed for different equipment configurations. The utilities for the space are provided by the means of tie-ins to the existing distribution piping and extending to cover the new space. As part of this project, the design included the addition of a chiller and cooling tower in the Central Utility Plant.
Highland worked, as part of a design/build team, with Alvin H. Butz Construction Company, Allentown, PA on this project.
